**Check out this AMAZING item! KISSROCKS.net
has been fortunate enough to connect up with a former art student of
Mr.
Van Hamersveld's who has commissioned us to sell this one-of-a-kind,
ultra-rare
item almost never seen before in the KISS
community:
This oversized 42" x 56" lithograph is 1 of
200 in the
world, and features the original artwork that was painted and presented
to KISS and their management for the 'Hotter
Than Hell' album in fall 1974. As you can see from the
images
below, the original painting is of Gene Simmons'
face & make-up, while the final version of the 'Hotter
Than Hell' back cover is based on this but a morph of all
members'
make-up, which makes this 'outtake' of sorts extremely unique.
Only
200 copies of the original artwork (just Gene's make-up) was printed by
John Van Hamersveld and then hand-signed by him in 1975 while an
instructor
at California Institute of the Arts.
John Van Hamersveld has created over 300 album
covers
and concert posters for everyone including The
Beatles, Rolling
Stones, Blondie, KISS
of course, and dozens of others. His creativity and influence can
be felt throughout much of visuals that accompany the music of the 60s
& 70s and his contribution to KISS'
classic
1974 album 'Hotter Than Hell' is no
exception.
